Grammar School

The Grammar years are times of wonder, excitement, and adventure as the students discover a world that is new to them.  They begin with the wonder of letters that becomes the excitement of reading that leads them into adventures of the past, present and future.

The halls are often filled with the singing, laughing, cheering, chanting voices of excited children memorizing new information.  They tell and re-tell stories of the past; they write the stories of the present and the future, with creativity and flair.  When they leave sixth grade their heads and hearts are full of stories of the world.

Grammar School is teachers, students, and parents.  The teachers bring this new world to the students with a teacher's heart to reach the hearts of children and a teachers' enthusiasm for the subjects they teach.  But the added factor at Regents that is often not found in other places is the involvement of the parents.  On any day during the school year parents can be found in classrooms helping with projects, reading to the students, or supervising recess or lunch.  Without their extra hands, heads, eyes, ears, and time, many things would not be accomplished.

The years of ABC's and 1,2,3's go quickly and life becomes more complicated, but there is great joy in the Grammar School years.
