Regents was delighted to welcome author N.D. Wilson to campus on Tuesday. Wilson is an award-winning writer of middle grade fantasy. During lunch, he spoke with SOR students about the irony of writing as a Christian in a secular publishing industry. Though readers long for the beauty, hope, and truth in his stories, publishers are antagonistic toward his Christian world view that shapes his writing. Wilson also spoke about his non-fiction book, Notes from the Tilt-a-Whirl: Wide-Eyed Wonder in God's Spoken World. Described as his "Christian Manifesto", Wilson uses imagery and figurative language in a unique style to defend his faith.  He enthralled 5th and 6th graders with his real-life, childhood adventures that launched his fiction books and reminded SOL students that we all are fantastical characters living in a true, fantasy story spoken into being by a Supernatural Author.
Wilson's book The Legend of Sam Miracle will be available to purchase for $15 through May 3rd in the Grammar Library.

On April 12-13, Georgia Wright and Elise Robbins traveled to the Waco Regional Tennis Center to represent Regents in the Girls Singles Division at the TAPPS 5A State Tennis Tournament. Elise won her first match in two sets (6/1, 6/0) and advanced to the quarter-finals where she faced the defending state champion. She competed well but after a tough match dropped the match in two sets (3/6, 2/6) to this year's eventual state runner-up. Georgia has been the State Runner-Up for the last two years and advanced this year to the TAPPS 5A State Championship for a  rematch with Danielle Quevedo, a senior from Tyler Grace, the defending State Champion. After a tough, grueling match, Georgia won the State Championship splitting the first two sets (5/7, 6/3) and then winning the tie breaker (10/5). With their success at the state tournament, Georgia and Elise also scored enough points to earn the Girls Team State Runner-Up. Congratulations to Georgia and Elise!
