All dads are invited to Regents Dads’ Lunch at Matt's El Rancho. Enjoy great food, conversation with other dads, and words of wisdom from Ellen Tucker. We guaranteed Matt’s we’ll have at least fifty dads, and with only four Dad’s Lunches scheduled this year, we know we can exceed those numbers. Please RSVP at www.regentsschool.com/dadslunch so we’ll know how many to expect. Bring a friend or two, mark it on your calendar now, and come hungry for good food and good fellowship. Please bring $12 cash to cover your meal and beverage.

Whether your child is a kindergartner or a senior, all parents should take advantage of this chance to sit on the sidelines and experience one of the distinctives of a classical education. Join us on either Thursday, 10/9 with Dr. Bullock, or Tuesday, 10/28 with Mr. Simmons, from 11:30-12:25 at the harkness table outside the college advising office on the 2nd floor of the SOR building. Students will challenge, explore, and debate, and you’ll be inspired, whether you’re casting a vision for your younger child or understanding what your SOR child participates in daily. For more information, contact Meredith Davis at meredith@davises.net

The slight change in the weather has been well received here at the gardens. Some rain and moderated temperatures are sure signs that Autumn is just around the corner. The students have continued preparing their garden soil and some have planted seeds this week. The planting will continue next week, as well. As we plant we consider the fact that we are participating in an activity that has been common to all generations. It is an activity that is easy to take for granted in our modern world. That would be a mistake. The patterns and cycles of the agricultural world are meant to ground us in God's handiwork. The process of sowing and reaping, the progression from seed to fruit, and even the fact that all gardening requires faith all work to inform us about who we are and Whose we are. Every harvest, whether large or small, is a reminder that our lives are truly in His hand. He also said " The Kingdom of God is like someone spreading seed upon the ground"... Mark 4:26. Steering Committee meets Thurs. Sept. 25 at 7:50 a.m. at the garden. Next Service Day is Sat. Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. - noon. All are welcome. Questions/comments hgilliam@regentsaustin.org
